Mi Casa Multimedia (Hollywood) used CEDAR on Paul Simon concert
PBS have broadcast a concert to commemorate Paul Simon being awarded the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Recorded on 23 May 2007, the 3-hour concert featured Paul Simon himself, as well as artists including Art Garfunkel, James Taylor, and Stevie Wonder. The mixes were then sent to Mi Casa Multimedia in Hollywood for post-production and for editing down to 90 minutes for the PBS broadcast on 27 June.
Mix magazine reported in September 2007 that "It took a lot of work to make the sound of the concert as aired seem completely natural. Brant Biles [of Mi Casa] worked primarily with the SADiE PCM-H64 recorder/editor running CEDAR Retouch and the same company's noise-reduction package."
Talking to CEDAR Audio's President, Gordon Reid, at the TEC Awards in 2003, Robert Margouleff, founder of Mi Casa Multimedia said, "Retouch has complete changed the way that we work at Mi Casa, making it possible to do things that we had always thought impossible."
CEDAR Retouch is a huge leap forward in sound processing technology. Unlike conventional restoration tools, it allows you to define the temporal and spectral content of the sound you want to remove. This makes it possible to identify noises as varied as coughs, squeaky chairs, page turns, the creak of a piano pedal and even car horns.
Once identified, unwanted sounds are replaced seamlessly with audio that matches the surrounding signal. All other audio remains untouched.
