CEDAR Cambridge version 2: A significant leap forward for audio restoration and clean-up

5th October 2004

Available immediately, CEDAR Cambridge v2 adds numerous new modules and features to versions 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2. The earlier versions are now obsolete, because v2.0 (which is equally applicable to the film, mastering, post and forensic audio configurations) extends the system's capabilities in important ways.

File Processor

Originally launched as just a real-time world-to-world processor, CEDAR Cambridge v2.0 now boasts disk-to-disk and disk-to-world File Processing capabilities. These allow users to analyse and process selected parts of, or whole WAV and AIFF files, rendering the results back to hard disc (disk-to-disk) in a fraction of the time needed to process audio in real-time.

Furthermore, you can use the File Processor as a disk-to-world system, passing WAV and AIFF files through the processing chain and outputting the results so that you can monitor them in real-time.

Accessed via the Process Manager, file processing also responds to automation, thus allowing you to set up complex event- and scene-based processing, with morphing if required.

Dynamics Processor

The 64-bit Dynamics Processor contains three new modules: a compressor, an upward expander and a downward expander. Each of these modules offers eight audio channels, and you can use any combination of the processes simultaneously.

Designed to the very highest audio standards, all three processes offer precise envelopes, side-chain processing and linking, which facilitate powerful effects such as ducking and 'parallel dynamics processing'. Furthermore, all of the side-chains include CEDAR's powerful IIR 'Precision' EQ, so that you can make all of the processes frequency-dependent for even greater flexibility.

Limiter

The CEDAR Cambridge Limiter is designed and coded to the highest 64-bit standards and is suitable for the most exacting mastering requirements. Like all CEDAR Cambridge v2 modules, it offers up to eight channels of processing, making it ideal for all multi-channel and surround requirements as well as for traditional stereo mastering.

Pricing

The File Processor is a free addition to the system core, and a free upgrade for all existing users. Prices for the Dynamics Processor and Limiter are available from your local CEDAR dealer.
