Held from Thursday 5th - Saturday 7th June 2008 at the University of Colorado and the Sheraton Hotel, Denver, the 33rd AES International Conference wil cover many aspects of audio and its connections with modern forensic science.
Gordon Reid, President of CEDAR Audio Ltd, will be presenting an introductory tutorial on the opening day, "An Introduction to Forensic Audio". This will cover topics including the need for audio forensics, the tools and techniques used, and some of the pitfalls encountered when bringing evidence to court. The presentation will be illustrated by the real-time processing of genuine examples of forensic audio.
The 33rd will explore the history, hardware, and techniques of forensic investigation of audio materials. The field has gone through significant advances with the advent of digital audio recording, signal processing, and computer-assisted evaluation. The appropriate use of analogue and digital processes provides the contemporary audio engineer with powerful tools for quality audio investigation in support of the law enforcement, legal, archival, and restoration communities.
