Forensic Research
CEDAR Audio is actively pursuing research into the following fields of forensic audio. Much of this work is carried out with the assistance of Cambridge University.
- Adaptive Filtering
- Correction of low-frequency tape speed fluctuations due to battery decay or sticky tapes etc.
- Correction of high-frequency tape speed fluctuations due to off-centre capstans and motor instabilities etc.
- Further methods of buzz and hum removal.
- New methods of hiss reduction specifically developed to increasing intelligibility.
- Specific methods of removal or reduction of reverberation in the recorded signal.
We are always interested to pursue research with forensic organisations, and welcome submission of unique problems for analysis and solution. If you have recordings that cannot be used because of unusual noise problems, we would be pleased to hear from you.
